NTD Report Definitions

  • Odometer Miles:
    These are actual miles that show on the odometer.
  • Actual Miles:
    Miles that vehicles travel while in revenue service. They also include deadhead miles, but exclude the following:

    • Miles for charter work
    • Operator training
    • Maintenance testing
  • Actual Vehicle Revenue Miles (VRM):
    These are miles that the vehicles are in revenue service (including layover and recovery time). However they exclude:

    • Deadhead miles
    • Operator training
    • Charter service
    • Maintenance testing
  • Dead Head Miles and Hours:
    These are miles and hours when the vehicle is out of revenue service.
    However they include:

    • Leaving and returning to the garage or yard facility
      Changing buses
    • When there is no expectation of carrying revenue passengers
  • Actual Hours:
    These are the hours that vehicles travel while in revenue service. It includes actual passenger revenue hours plus deadhead hours. The exclusions are:

    • Hours for charter work
    • Operator training
    • Maintenance testing
  • Actual Revenue Hours:
    These are passenger hours traveled while in revenue service. Exclusions are:

    • Deadhead
    • Operator training
    • Charter work
    • Maintenance testing
  • Revenue Service:
    This is the time when a vehicle is available to the general public and there is an expectation of carrying passengers. These passengers either:

    • Directly pay fares
    • Are subsidized by public policy
    • Provide payment through some contractual arrangement
  • Vehicles operated in fare free service are considered in revenue service. The Exclusions are:

    • Deadhead
    • Maintenance testing
    • Charter work
  • Passenger Miles:
    The cumulative sum of the distances ridden by each passenger.
  • Unlinked Passenger Trips (UPT):
    The number of passengers who board public transportation vehicles.
  • NECESSARY INFORMATION TO BE COLLECTED FROM THE GRANTEES:
    (THIS INFORMATION IS TO BE REPORTED BOTH QUARTERLY AND ANNUALLY)
  • Total odometer miles operated
  • Total actual miles operated
  • Total revenue miles operated
  • Total actual hours operated
  • Total revenue hours operated
  • Total passengers carried quarterly.
  • Revenue collected by to include: _________________________________
  • Expenses incurred for the operation of the transportation services (i.e. DAR, Commuter, etc…)
  • REQUIREMENT FROM GRANTEES TO THE GHTD:
    This information needs to be provided and submitted quarterly by the grantees to the GHTD, no later than the 10th of the month following the quarterly months.
    Due date: October 10th
    (included in this submission are the months of July, August, and September).
    Due date: January 10th
    (included in this submission are the months of October, November, and December.
    Due date: April 10th
    (included in this submission are the months of January, February, and March).
    Due date: July 10th
    (included in this submission are the months of April, May, and June).
  • The annual report is due to the GHTD office by August 1st.
