Welcome to the Greater Hartford
Transit District's Website

Our website is designed to be user-friendly, easy to navigate and filled with useful and interesting information. Before you begin to explore, we would like to tell you who we are and how the GHTD provides important services to the Greater Hartford Region as well as the entire State of Connecticut.

The GHTD is a quasi-municipal corporation operating under the authority of Chapter 103a of the Connecticut General Statutes. There are currently sixteen member towns represented by appointees who collectively form the Board of Directors. GHTD has broad powers to acquire, operate, finance, plan, develop, maintain and otherwise provide all forms of land transportation and related services including the development or renewal of transportation centers and parking facilities. The agency serves as a conduit for federal and state funding of transit related capital projects, provides ADA Paratransit Service, and owns Union Station Transportation Center in Hartford. It also manages a number of transportation support service programs, including the Connecticut Drug and Alcohol Testing and Transit District Insurance Consortiums.

We thank you for visiting our website and believe that you will find the information here helpful and enlightening. There is a lot to peruse – and if you don’t find what you need here, we have provided useful links to assist you in your quest for information.
